The Third Luminous Mystery – the Proclamation of the Kingdom He feasted at the Wedding at Cana and performed a sign there as deeply mysterious as it was simple – changing water for cleansing into wine for a wedding feast, foreshadowing the Eucharist and the wedding supper of the Lamb, and taking up the burden of his public ministry that would lead ultimately to his death on the cross. Jesus didn’t just take on the burden of our humanity, he embraced it. The Second Luminous Mystery – the Wedding at Cana And the heavens were opened and a voice proclaimed, “This is my beloved son with you I am well pleased.” Jesus, the sinless one, submitted to that baptism as he would one day submit to the cross, suffering as the Lamb of God for our sins. The First Luminous Mystery – the Baptism in the Jordan For my yoke is easy, and my burden light. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart and you will find rest for yourselves. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
